Intel Releases New set of CPU Benchmarks Comparing AMD CPU Scores with Xeon| Intel Just recently released a set of benchmarks which showcases performance metrics done Intel Labs on Intel Xeon CPUs vs AMD epyc. Intel appear to be focusing on The AMD Epyc as the main rival like before but this time dealing with a more heated up competition. Intel’s EPYC benchmarks in the slide sets compares a  2S EPYC 7601 server with a 2S Intel Xeon 8160. Both systems cost about the same price $16000 ($16128 for the Intel one vs $16280 for the AMD one). Intel 8160 part in 2S mode, whiles the benchmarks also showcase the Intel 8180 in all its glory, which unlike the former is $10,000 part. Putting CPU benchmarks in one chart that they do not really make much sense “value-vise” to be put together. This means shifting from the 8160 to the 8180 you are looking at a price difference of roundly $12000 for a 2S configuration. Intel 8160 just barely outperforms the competition with the EPYC. They are in the same price range and it is the most relevant comparison in  the whole charts and benchmarks that intel has released.

Intel also released some scores for single core tests as well as the multi core tests that are usually used to show off the core density features. So as expected the Intel is superior in performance to AMD EPYC. Intel did not include power efficiency metrics which important in datacenters and massive server built-ups and play important role in cost efficiency of power consuming. Intel’s performance with the 8160 is just slightly better than the EPYC 7601 and comes at a competitive pricing but 8180 with higher scores is hoing to cost much higher and putting it in the same chart and comparing it is just irrelevant.

Intel and AMD are the only rivals in CPU market of datacenter and AI. AMD is also fighting in GPU market of the dataceneters and machine learning. In Sc17 AMD could get a lot of attention and attracted a lot of customers like Microsoft and Asus and Biado to bring EPYC in their Servers and Datacenters. Intel has folt the competition and the market that they are losing and trying to keep it by showing of their new Xeon CPU lines.
