PC gamers have been playing their games at 1080p 60 FPS for a very long time now. Right now you can buy a GPU that can play triple-A games at 1080p for a low price. Since 4k gaming has been around it has been very costly for a PC gamer to run triple-A games at 4k 60 FPS high to ultra settings. Right now even if GPUs were at the original price you will have to spend more then $1,200 for good 4K gaming.  You would need at least two GTX 1080s running at SLI to play AAA games at 4k 60 FPS high to ultra. If you want to run all games at 4k ultra 60 fps you will need two Titan XPs and two of those would cost you more then $2,000.

According to many rumors about the GeForce GTX 1180, the card is going to be very powerful. According to the rumors, the GTX 1180 is going to have 8 to 16 GB of GDDR6 memory running at 16 Gbps with a 512GB/s memory bandwidth. The GTX 1180 is expected to have 3584 Cuda cores, 224 TMUs, 64 ROPs, around 1600 MHz core clock, and around 1800 MHz boost clock. The GPU’s FP32 Performance is at 13 TFLOPS. The TDP is expected to be at 120 to 200 Walts. According to the rumors, the GTX 1180 is going to be released in Q3 2018 and it is expected to be priced at $699.

$699 is a lot of money for some people but with the GTX 1180 performing like this the GTX 1170 should cost a few hundred dollars less and perform a little worse. If the rumors are true then PC gamers will be able to play triple-A titles at 4k 60 FPS ultra settings. The GTX 1180 could be a massive generation leap that will transform PC gaming from 1080p to 4k. In a year or two, it is expected to see most gamers playing games at 4k 60 FPS.
