After GPUs Shortage, crypto miners might switch to Strong Multi-core CPUs for mining

AMD Ryzen Threadripper can earn all its money back in 1.5 years of mining 24/7

Right now, it’s the hardest time for a gamers to build a gaming PC because of the GPU shortage. In 2017 most gaming graphics cards were not used by gamers instead they were used by miners. Miners use graphics cards to mine cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Unfortunately, one GPU isn’t enough to get a profit from mining you will need a lot more than 2 GPUs. Many miners have 8 graphics cards in their mining rig. Since so many Graphics Cards are getting bought by miners Nvidia and AMD can’t keep up with the demand so graphics cards have been out of stock everywhere and if anyone wants to buy a GPU will need to spend much more then it’s price for it unless you want to buy a GTX 1050. Right now on Amazon Prime the GTX 1080 costs $680. The GTX 1080 Founders edition is supposed to cost $549.99. Well, the same thing might happen with CPUs. Right now the AMD Ryzen Threadripper will pay for its self in a year and a half.

According to hardocp research, The Threadripper 1950x that is mining a cryptocurrency named Monero with the XMR-STAK used only 260 Watts. At idle the Threadripper CPU used 108 Watts and when mining it used 266 Watts and it mined 1483 Hash per second. The GTX 1080 TI doesn’t even get 1000 Hash Rate. According to coinwarz’s calculator with a Threadripper 1950x you will be making $543.77 a year. Right now on Amazon you can pick p the Threadripper 1950x for $899.99. Right now there aren’t motherboards out there that let users put multiple Threadripper CPUs on it so miners will continue using GPUs for a long time. If there were motherboards that allow you to place more then one Threadripper on it many miners will probably switch to using Threadripper CPUs for mining instead of Graphics cards because they do have a very good hash rate.
