Nvidia RTX Doesn’t Seem to be Doing Very Well

Nvidia’s latest gaming GPU series, RTX hasn’t been very popular with gamers. RTX GPUs cost way too much and they don’t perform that much better than last-gen GPUs around the same price point. Ray tracing was supposed to be the thing that saves RTX but it turned out to be pretty much useless as you need an $800 RTX 2080 to have ray tracing on and get 60 FPS. Upgrading from your current GPU to an RTX GPU isn’t really worth it if you have a 1000 series or even a high-end 900 series GPU. That is why RTX hasn’t been selling that well. Also the cheapest RTX GPU is $500 so most people can’t afford it.

RTX Not Doing Well on Amazon

Right now if you go to Amazon’s best seller list, you will see that an RTX GPU isn’t even in the top 5 even though it came out a few months ago. The best selling GPU is the GTX 1050TI followed by the GTX 1070 and GTX 1060. AMD is in the top 10 as well with the RX 580 in the fourth and fifth position. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 XC Gaming Edition comes in at number nine and the RTX 2080 is at number 13. This is bad news for Nvidia as it shows that their latest GPU series, RTX isn’t selling that well.

Amazons most wished GPU is the Nvidia GTX 1070 followed by the GTX 1050 TI and the RX 580 8GB. The Nvidia RTX 2070 comes in at the number 7 spot. This shows that Nvidia should really release their lower-end Turning GPUs as soon as possible.

Low-End Turning GPUs Coming Soon

According to the latest rumors, Nvidia is going to release the RTX 2060 and GTX 1160 in mid-January. The RTX 2060 is going to feature ray tracing which doesn’t seem very useful. The RTX 2070 isn’t even powerful enough to run triple-A games at 1080p 60 FPS with ray tracing enabled. With the RTX 2060, you will have to reduce the graphics settings to low-medium 1080p with ray tracing enabled for 60 FPS. The GTX 1160 is going to be the best option for gamers. It will probably have a really good price to performance ratio when compared to RTX cards. The GTX 1160 is going to be using the Turning architecture as well.
