Sources say, AMD will release its next-generation Pinnacle Ridge (CPU) processors in February of 2018. AMD is expected to fight in higher-end with Pinnacle 7, followed by mid-range Pinnacle 5 and entry-level Pinnacle 3 CPUs. AMD claiming about a third of the desktop CPU market now and it is growing fast as AMD has released the new Ryzen and Vega platforms and recently claimed to release the most powerful CPU in ultra-thin Laptop market.  AMD may not continue with the name CPUs Pinnacle 7, 5, and 3 and may stick with Summit Ridge because of the huge success. Pinnacle Ridge is being built on a 12nm LP node versus 14nm with a performance uplift also power efficiency. Some Motherboard makers say AMD is prepping a new 400 series chipset, with X470 or B450 motherboards scheduled to hit store shelves in March 2018 as well. According to that 2020 AMD roadmap, Pinnnacle Ridge is for 2018, followed by Matisse (Zen 2) in 2019. It is being mentioned that Zen 2 will be built on a 7nm process, AMD is currently set to launch Zen 3 (7nm+) in 2020.

AMD in late Sept 2017 at Global Foundries Technology Conference announced that it will be improving its first Ryzen CPUs and Vega GPUs to 12nm LP technology next year (2018). The announcement came from the company’s Chief Technology agent Mark Papermaster. And when it is going to be produced? well it was mentioned that 12nm LP volume production will begin in the first quarter of 2018. So if you are planning to build a PC specially for gaming you might want to wait and see what happens in 2018 specially till march. You may get tempted by all the offer in the next month or two but if you want the latest tech on you PC you may want to wait till end of Feb 2018.

AMD ANNOUNCING: AMD RYZEN & RADEON RX VEGA TO GET 12NM IN 2018

2018 seems to be the 12nm year and as you see in AMD master plans 7 nm is on the way as the next step after 12 nm. Nvidia has not been much out there talking about what happens next but AMD now is having a very successful line “RYZEN” and is making the best out of it. AMD released RYZEN and had a strong comeback to the market by the whole platform Expanded it to Vega and graphics and now is jumping to the next step The 12 & 7 NM Ryzen Platforms. AMD is competing with Nvidia in Graphics and Intel in processing, Ryzen and RX Vega are the newest platforms released by AMD and so far they are getting a lot of attention and making a lot of headlines. We jst released an article on how the new AMD Ryzen Threadripper $1000 CPU crushed the Intel core I9 $1000 CPU.
