AMD Radeon VII is Very Disappointing | Benchmarks, Release Date

AMD Radeon VII Benchmarks

AMD recently announced their next-gen Vega 7 card, the Radeon VII at CES 2019. AMD didn’t have any competition from Nvidia in the high-end gaming market because of the RTX 2080. AMD announced their competitor to the Nvidia RTX 2080, the Radeon VII. Gamers were very excited to finally get a glimpse at the worlds first 7nm gaming GPU but, all the hype quickly died down when AMD released official benchmarks for the Radeon VII

AMD Radeon VII Benchmarks

Thanks to AMD themselves, we know that the AMD Radeon VII is going to feature 3840 unified cores, a boost clock of 1800MHz, 16GB of VRAM, and a 1TB/s bandwidth. Although the Radeon VII features superior specs to the Nvidia RTX 2080, they perform really similarly. Supposedly the 16GB of VRAM will give AMD Radeon VII a big advantage over the RTX 2080 in 4k benchmarks but, we don’t really see that in the benchmarks below.

All benchmarks were done at 4k ultra settings.

AMD Radeon VII is Very Disappointing

As you can see in the benchmarks above, the Radeon VII and the RTX 2080 perform really similarly. There is a small difference between the Radeon VII and the RTX 2080 in terms of performance and, they are both going to cost you the same amount. The thing that gives Nvidia the advantage is the fact that RTX cards have Ray Tracing and they are going to be really easy to find at MSRP price when compared to the Radeon VII. AMD is only going to make 5000 Radeon VII cards so, it’ll be really hard to get a brand new one for MSRP price.

When is it Coming Out?

The AMD Radeon VII is going to be released on February 7th, 2019 for $699. Gamers that pick up the AMD Radeon VII will also get Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 2, and The Division 2 for free.
