Most games that were released in 2017 have microtransactions. Some games such as Star Wars Battlefront 2 had microtransactions that affected gameplay and gave an advantage to gamers that bought them, and some microtransactions such as Player Unknown’s Battleground’s loot boxes didn’t give any gamers advantages they were simply cosmetic items. An Analyst says gamers should have higher prices or have microtransactions.

Evan Wingren (video games and eSports researcher reported by cnbc) says gamers don’t pay extra money they pay less than they needed. Wingren says gaming is the cheapest form of entertainment that is definitely true. On Amazon, Moana DVD version will cost you $17.99, and it’s 1 hour 47 minutes long while a game like GTA V costs $59.99, but its story campaign takes 25-30 hours. If you buy Moana DVD from Amazon, each minute will cost you about 17 cents while if you finish GTA V in 25 hours each minute will cost you 4 cents. We’re not even including the time that you can spend playing GTA Online if we add those numbers it will probably cost you less then 1 cent per minute especially since Rockstar is consistently adding new content to GTA Online. As you can see GTA V will give you the best bang for your buck. 

A few months ago a developer said making a game right now is more expensive then it has ever been. The dev said they don’t add microtransactions because they want extra money they added it because games are too cheap. Nilsson says developing games is getting more expensive, but games still cost $59.99. He says a game like Last of Us costs $59.99 and you can finish the main campaign in 10 hours, while GTA V costs $59.99 but it takes a lot longer than 10 hours to finish the main story. Now we can see why ane developers add microtransactions to their games but many gamers were saying many developers add microtransactions even though their games don’t need them.
