Atari Seems To Need More Time To Get Ataribox Ready

Now after about 3 months that Atari announced ATARIBOX release dates and production and ran the campaign, Atari Seems To Need More Time To Get Ataribox Ready for the fans. Atari has delayed the Ataribox crowdfunding launch in order to spend more time on the platform and its ecosystem. Atari announced pre-orders for the upcoming console last week, so just a heads up about the delay. Atari has mentioned:

“The countdown to the Ataribox launch on Indiegogo has been officially paused. Because of one key element on our checklist, it is taking more time to create the platform and ecosystem the Atari community deserves”, the press release reads.

“Building Ataribox is incredibly important to us and we will do whatever it takes to be sure it is worth the wait.

“An updated launch plan is underway and more detailed information will be available soon. “

Ataribox specifications

The Ataribox design is inspired by retro atari products like the Atari 2600.The full specifications are not out yet but it is mentioned that the console will bring a “full PC experience” to your TV, and it’ll also offer a media hub experience to give app access to streaming, social, web browsing, music listening and more online. A game streaming service is thought to be included as well. We know now the the Ataribox is made by AMD customized processor with Radeon Graphics chips and is based on Linux OS. Pictures shown HDMI and USB ports, plus an Ethernet port and SD card slot. There is more-than likely Wi-Fi as well.
