After the failure of recent Assassin’s Creed titles, and the decline of this once beloved series, Ubisoft took a break from the yearly Assassin’s Creed cycle. Assassin’s Creed Origins was a massive success critically and it was beloved by more fans in the series. The game did very well, so Ubisoft took the same route with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, The Characters

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a big change from the traditional Assassin’s Creed story. First off, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey features two new protagonists. Unlike previous games in the series, the story doesn’t jump between the two protagonists, but instead, you will be able to choose who you want to play as.  You can either play as Alexios or Kassandra. Both of the protagonists are the same, they have the same performance and skills. The only difference is the fact that one of the is a woman and the other is a man.

The two new protagonists have been placed into the game so that both female and male players can enjoy the experience. Both are mercenaries trying to forge a name for themselves in ancient Greece. This feature is fascinating as the game wouldn’t receive hate for featuring woman like Battlefield V did but both genders are going to be happy.

The Story

For the first time ever, the game is set in a time before the Assassin Brotherhood was even created, so it’s going to be a massive changeup. In an interview, the game’s director, Scott Phillips said, “We are not directly connected in terms of the story of Origins. We are 400 years before Assassin’s Creed Origins. So the brotherhood hasn’t been created, which allows us to focus the story on choice. You’re not driven by the Assassin’s Creed, you’re your own internal creed that you created. And the world feeds that back to you if you’re killing people, or lying, or stealing. The world is going to send mercenaries against you so you’ll feel that those choices have an impact. And then your choices within the story as well will have a big impact.”

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey isn’t going to break all of the traditions as it does feature a present time setting as well. According to Phillips, most fans will love the game as it has a lot of things for players to do.

Naval Battles

Yes, naval battles are going to be a thing in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and according to what we have heard it’s going to be one of the best Naval experiences in Assassin’s Creed games perhaps even better than Black Flag’s. Odyssey, is going to feature open-world sailing similar to Origin’s. Players are going to be able to explore the vast oceans and islands of ancient Greece. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s naval mechanics are going to be much better then other game’s in the series. Odyssey is going to feature the shooting, ramming, and boarding of previous games in the series but it is also going to introduce a new feature.

Gamers will be able to recruit lieutenants to aid the player on their battles. The lieutenants will add unique buffs to your ship and crew so you can customize your game-play experience to suit your style.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is Going to be More Similair to RPG games

Odyssey is going to be more RPG then other game’s in the series and depending on who you ask that is very exciting. For the first time what you say and do matters and changes the story. In Odyssey for the first time players are going to be able to change the story. What you say and do will affect your status with different NPCs. You will even be able to make verious NPCs all around Greece fall in love with you. Cutscenes aren’t just movies anymore you can change the course of the narrative, and that is going to make the game more engaging for gamers.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has added a strategical aspect to the series. The game is going to feature a skill tree similair to Origin’s. The skill tree is divided into three different sections Hunter, Warrior, and Assassin. Now, players can choose how they want to play the game.
