December was a very good month for the Nintendo 3DS

The Nintendo 3DS is not dead

2017 was a very successful year for the Nintendo Switch. When Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch many people said that it would fail but they were completely wrong it actually did very well but when fans heard that Nintendo will continue making and supporting Nintendo 3DS consoles they were very shocked. Almost every person thought that because of the fact that the New Nintendo 3DS XL costs $199.99 most people will spend $299.99 and buy themselves the Nintendo Switch. Well, Nintendo was lucky because not only people stopped buying the Nintendo 3DS December 2017 became the Nintendo 3DS’s best month in a very long time.

In a press release, Nintendo revealed some December sale figures for the Nintendo 3DS in the United States. According to Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS sold 750,000 units in the US alone in the Holiday season. Most gamers believed that the 3DS will fail and the ones that believed it wouldn’t fail thought that the 3DS would sell fewer units in 2017 then the sales in 2016. In December 2017 the Nintendo 3DS sold 27% more units then it did in 2016. These numbers were definitely surprising to many fans but these sales might have been caused by the exclusive games that Nintendo released for the 3DS. 

Some of the 3DS exclusive games are Kirby Battle Royale, Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, Mario Party the top 100, and many more games. The Nintendo Switch might cost $100 more than the New Nintendo 3DS XL but it costs $150 more than the New Nintendo 2DS XL. Many Nintendo 3DS fans bought the Nintendo 2DS rather than the Nintendo 3DS because the 3D function didn’t work very nicely and other fans didn’t like to pay extra to play their 3DS games in 3D. The base Nintendo 2DS system wasn’t foldable like the other Nintendo DS consoles but it cost only $79.99 while the 3DS costs $199.99.
