EA says why Battlefront 2 loot boxes didn’t focus on cosmetics
EA has explained the reason for Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot boxes not focusing on cosmetic items
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is one of the most controversial games of all times, and it’s not very popular with gamers because of loot boxes. The loot boxes gave gamers advantages and gamers were able to buy gems, and they can use the gems to buy loot boxes. Gamers were complaining that it’s very hard to progress in the game if you don’t buy loot boxes and people that bought them were able to get star cards that are high level while it will take a person that doesn’t buy loot boxes hours to get the same cards. EA did change the loot box system the change made it so when gamers bought loot boxes and got high-level star cards they had to reach a certain level to be able to use them. After the change gamers still didn’t like the loot box system, so EA completely removed microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront 2 (temporary.)
Gamers wanted Battlefront 2 loot boxes to contain cosmetic items only, and EA has finally talked about cosmetic items in loot boxes. In the Credit Suisse Annual Technology Jorgensen said they are focused on not breaking Star War’s canon laws and Star Wars has been developing for many years so if you add a lot of cosmetic items they might break Star Wars Cannon. He did say that they are working with Lucas Films to bring some cosmetics to Battlefront 2 , but Battlefront 2 isn’t like EA’s IP they can’t change it whenever they want, and he did say that different colored lightsaber might come in the future. This response from EA didn’t make gamers happy and many gamers were saying that Battlefront 2’s multiplayer violates Star Wars canon and many gamers say this is just another excuse by EA. Gamers have a point considering that you can have Darth Maul and Kylo Ren in the battle at the same time and that doesn’t make sense because Kylo and Maul didn’t exist in Star Wars at the same time.
