GTX 1180 is Not Going to be Able to Do 8K Gaming but 4K is going to be Possible
8K Gaming isn’t going to be possible with the GTX 1180
Rumors from many different sources have “leaked” GTX 1180’s specs and there is a lot of speculations about its release date. The biggest discussion is about the GTX 1180’s performance. The PC gaming community is hoping that we are finally going to be able to play games at 4K ultra 60 FPS with one GPU that costs less than $1000 hopefully around $700. The GTX 1180 is expected to feature 3584 Cuda Cores, 16GB of VRAM, 1600MHz core clock, 1800MHz boost clock, 13 TFLOPS, 16 Gbps Memory Speed, and a TDP of 170 to 200 watts. If these rumors are true then the GTX 1180 is going to be revolutionary for the gaming market as 4K gaming might be possible for a relatively low price.
Some people around the web have been saying that 8K gaming is going to be possible with the GTX 1180 while I’m sorry to burst your bubble. If these are actually GTX 1180’s specs then even two wouldn’t be able to run a game on two 4k monitors at Ultra 60 FPS unless the game is something like CS:GO. The GTX 1180 is a bit stronger than the strongest gaming GPU available to the market right now the Nvidia Titan XP.
With the Witcher 3 running at ultra settings 4K the GTX Titan XP was able to keep the game running above 50 FPS for the whole benchmark. This means that the Nvidia GTX 1180 is likely going to be able to run the Witcher 3 at Ultra settings 4K 60+FPS.
According to many reports, the GTX 1180 is expected to be announced in Gamescom 2018. A Lenovo product manager lets slip that his new gaming PC features Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs the GTX 1180 and according to reports by another website Nvidia is sending out invites to the press for Gamescom 2018.
WHY YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET ONE EASILY?
The miners are not buying because the profitability is low with the current coins prices. But it is still profitable, and they are all seeking new low-powered GPUs with more mining power. The moment the actual benchmarks and actual next GPU gets in line for the market they all will reach for their wallet to make a new rig out of them. The Hashrate / power consumption is the key for miners and they are looking closely at the next graphics that are coming. right now a GTX 1080 ti with 37 MH and about 100 to 130 watt and Cost per KWh ($) for 0.2 can make about $1 worth of ETH. If the power consumption lowers in the next GPU and the hashrates goes up while maintaining the price range that is a good buy for the miners.
