Intel losing the Laptop market to AMD

Intel is losing its grasp on the Laptop market

Intel has been controlling both the desktop market and Laptop market for years but when AMD released the Ryzen series CPU Intel wasn’t in total control in the PC market but the Laptop market was mostly safe for Intel because AMD hadn’t released a CPU with Integrated graphics. Well, it seems like AMD wants to return to the Laptop market and take it over. AMD has released new CPUs (For Desktop and Laptop) that have APUs. AMD’s APUs perform a lot better than Intel’s HD 620 and they can even compete with some low end dedicated graphics such as the GT 940.

Intel’s best integrated graphics the HD 620 scores a very low amount on 3D Mark11. On 3D Mark11 the HD 620 with an Intel Core i7-7500U Processor gets only 1750. While AMD’s best performing integrated GPU the Vega 10 mobile in the Ryzen 7 2700u (benchmark from moepc.net) scores an impressive 4072 on 3D Mark 11 but the price is very close to an i7-7500U. AMD’s worst performing integrated graphics the Vega 3 mobile in the Ryzen 3 2200u scores 1898 on 3D Mark 11. The mid-tier AMD CPU with an APU the Ryzen 5 2500u with the Vega 8 mobile scores 2655 on 3D Mark 11. The Ryzen 2200 U with the Vega 6 mobile got a score of 3252 on 3D Mark 11. Right now on Amazon a Laptop with the  Ryzen 7 2700u the Acer Swift 3 costs $899.99 with an 8GB DDR4 Memory and a full HD screen. With the Ryzen 7 2700U gamers will be able to play many triple-A games but if someone buys a laptop with an Intel CPU with the HD 620 wouldn’t be able to play triple-A games. You wouldn’t be able to play games at ultra settings 1080p with the Ryzen 7 2700U but you will be able to play some games such as PUBG at medium to low settings at 1080p and get around 60 FPS.
