INTEL CORE I9 CPUs, The fastest performing CPU series but not made exactly for gamers
Intel just released the I9 extreme CPU series a while ago for the highest end of performance consumer cpu market. Although it is not exactly made for gamers, gamers who are aiming higher to be using an ultra gaming PC may want to consider getting I9 cpu for their next PC. Here are some good point and bad point summery for gamers first. And of course the first two things that come to mine of a gamer is 1. How fast is it? 2. How much it actually costs? Well we have some good info for you here to give you the fast and brief estimate for the cost and speed.

Intel I9 Good points for gamers
- Up to 18-cores/36-threads in a single socket Pc is something you can not see in many Platforms
- Supports overclocking Per-core
- Fastest CPU on the planet claimed by many many benchmarks
- Up to 24.75 MB of cache is crazy
- i9-7980XE hits 6.1GHz in overclock tests and pulls 1000 watts of power
Intel I9 Bad points for gamers
- Not much faster than ‘lesser’ CPUs in default mode
- Excessive power draw, esp. when overclocked up to 1000 watt only the CPU
- almost same output for gaming gains vs. i7-7700K or even new AMD Ryzen CPUs
- Extremely expensive for such performance, it goes from $1000 up to $2000
Gaming performance benchmarks of Intel’s Core I9 CPUs
The below benchmark is a part of PCgamers core i9 benchmarks on the some new gmaes. Changes in every game is reported to be like this, Ashes of the Singularity: 7980XE beating the 7700K by 20 percent. Dishonored 2, 7980XE leads 10 percent. Hitman: 8 percent lead for 7980XE, but almost in all other areas its a tie or slightly bad for 7980XE. 770k wins in Dawn of War 3: 20 percent lead for 7700K. Far Cry: Primal: 12 percent lead.
So after All you do not really get as much as you pey for performance but it does not change the fact that 7980XE and other I9 CUs are so strong that the current games have not really anything challenging for them. Not even much challenging for the lower end CPUs like 7700k. The can all run these games at the maximum power and performance. maybe in more future games you could be able to feel the deference more.

Overclocking Core i9-7980XE goes beyond 6.1GHz + 1000 watts powers use
Here is a video from PCgamer testing the I9 overclocking abilities. Core i9-7980XE’s power consumption when running at 5.5Ghz you can see in the video that goes around 70 amps by +12V rail, almost all of it for the CPU. We can stimate that CPU is getting around 840W and in extreme overclocking At 5.8GHz and 6GHz, wattage jumps to 1,000W.
