If you haven’t heard of League of Legends aka LoL by now, you’re definitely not a gamer. League of Legends is easily one of the most popular games of all time. The game has been consistently gettings thousands and thousands of views per day in streaming websites such as YouTube and Twitch for a long time and the developer, Riot Games has been releasing new content for the game since it came out back in 2009. If you haven’t played League of Legends yet, here is a review for you that will hopefully help you make your decision. 

It’s Not for Everyone!

League of Legends is definitely not for everyone. If you’re into RPG Multiplayer battle arena games that are played from the top-down, League of Legends may be the game for you. Personally, I usually mostly like open-world FPS games such as Grand Theft Auto and the Witcher as well as games like Call of Duty. I also somewhat enjoy strategy games such as the Stronghold series and Hearts of Iron 4. I really enjoyed the strategy portion of the game. 

LoL is definitely not a casual game. You really have to focus on the match. You can’t watch a video and eating Doritos while playing League of Legends. All of your focus has to be on the game. You can try the game for free but, you’ll probably not enjoy it a lot if you just like to play casual games or the only kind of games you’re into are first-person shooters.

Everyone Has a Role

Every single player on your team has a role! There are many different classes like tank or support and if you want your team to win, you have to play your role. This is a strategy game so you must choose roles that you’re good at and you have to play those roles. In many games such as Battlefield 1, there are roles but, they can’t really change the tide of the game. The game has an ever-growing list of different characters that you can play and each multiple skills that work in tandem or counter another. If you pick the correct characters and play your roles, you’ll have a good chance of defeating the enemy team but, if you randomly pick characters and do whatever you want, you’ll cause the demise of your team.

Loads of Microtransactions

The game is free therefore, it’s obviously loaded with microtransactions. If you’re looking to unlock every single character in the game, you’ll either have to grind for years and years or, you’ll have to shell out more than $1000 to unlock all of the characters. In Leauge of Legends, you can also buy loads of cosmetic items for your characters to make them look good. Of course, you’ll have to pay for these cosmetic items with real money. Basically, everything in the game will cost you real money or years of grinding. You should definitely remember that before you start the game.

It’s Free!

League of Legends is a free to play the game which means that you can easily head over to the game’s website and download it for absolutely no price. League of Legends isn’t exactly a pay to win either so, it’s fun to try out. If you think that you may be a little be interested in the game, you should definitely download League of Legends as it wouldn’t cost you anything. The best part is the fact that your computer can be a potato system and you’ll still be able to run the game and get good performance.

System Requirements

League of Legends is one of the only online games around that you can still play on a Windows XP or Windows Vist! The recommended specs for the game (below) show that you’ll be able to run it on a low-end system.

3 GHz processor
2 GB of RAM (4 GB of RAM for Windows Vista and higher)
12 GB available hard disk space
Nvidia GeForce 8800/AMD Radeon HD 5670 or equivalent video card (Dedicated GPU with 512MB or higher Video Memory(VRAM))

In 2019 a system with the specs above would probably cost you around $100. Of course, you’ll have a really hard time finding hardware that’s this old right now. A modern PC will easily tun the game at 4k ultra and get at least 60 FPS

Tournaments

The game is still extremely popular as it’s featured in eSports tournaments. There are two different tournaments, one for Europe and one for Asia. There are also tournaments in North America. The season 9 is going to start on League of Legends and we all know how long it is to return to the rank you have already deserved during the last season.

Doing lol boosting maybe looks easy when you are one of the best in your region, but it also requires a strong mentality and a positive attitude to not give up.
