Microsoft’s Xbox One outsells Sony’s PS 4
The Xbox One outsold the PS 4 in December
In 2017 both the Nintendo Switch and PS 4 sold very well. The PlayStation 4 sold more than 70.6 million units worldwide and that’s before the December sale’s the busiest month of the year. The PS 4 became the 9th best selling console of all time just above the PS 3 70.2 million units and well below PSP’s 73.9 million units. The fact that the PS 4 is the only console with VR greatly contributed to these sales numbers. In December alone the Nintendo Switch sold 1.5 million units. According to Microsoft, the Xbox One did better than the PS 4 but worse than the Nintendo Switch in December.
Aaron Greenberg head of Xbox marketing Tweeted, “Thank you to everyone who helped support @Xbox One this holiday, @npdgroup just reported our highest Xbox One December console share ever, looking forward to a big 2018! ?” Fans wondered if that means the Xbox One did better then the Nintendo Switch but Greenberg later clarified his Tweet by saying, “Was trying to just thank folks for supporting us and the incredible success following the launch of Xbox One X. But yes Xbox outsold PS4 in December for Gen 8 consoles according to NPD data, while Nintendo also had a great month as Switch had most overall units.” The Xbox One X greatly contributed to Microsoft’s sales. Before Microsoft released the Xbox One X Sony’s PS 4 Pro was the most powerful console on the market but when the Xbox One X launched Microsoft stole the title from Sony. The PS 4 Pro is very powerful but it doesn’t come close to the Xbox One X. The Xbox One X is able to play many games at true 4K with good graphics 30 FPS. The PS 4 Pro doesn’t have a lot of games that run at true 4K.
