AMD’s new driver fixes many things

Nvidia’s latest GPU driver has already optimized Metal Gear Survive but Nvidia hasn’t released a new driver for Sea of Thieves at the time of writing this article. Sea of Thieves is a long-awaited game in the PC community and AMD has released an optimization patch for the game a month before Sea of Thieves is released. 

The new driver will greatly increase Sea of Thieves improvements for AMD users. According to AMD gamers will get a 29% performance boost with the new update using a Vega 64 while playing the game at 3840×2160. If you play Sea of Thieves at 1920×1080 you will get a 39% performance boost using an RX 580. Gamers using the Vega 56 will get a 13% performance running Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age at 2560×1440. RX 580 gamers will get a 20% performance boost if playing the game at 2560x1440p.

With the new Adrenalin driver AMD has fixed many issues such as problem making lighting and fog corruption on specific quality settings in Fortnite, For Honor crashing issue when launched, Middle-earth: Shadow of War crashed when launched as Universal Windows software, Radeon Overlay flickering when enabled if players using Vulkan, metrics overlay flickering when Enhanced Sync turned on in some Radeon FreeSync monitors, and more. Some known issues with the new driver are system hang after long uses of system with 12 GPU’s for compute workloads, Final Fantasy’s water textures might be missing, Destiny 2 may lag in the mission Heist if using some GCN1.0 products, Radeon Overlay might not show up in some games when toggled on, and more.

The new driver is compatible with RX Vega Series, RX 500 Series, RX 400 Series, Radeon Pro Duo, R7 300 Series, R7 200 Series, R9 Fury Series, R5 300 Series, R9 Nano Series, R5 200 Series, R9 300 Series, HD 8500 – HD 8900 Series, R9 200 Series, and HD 7700 – HD 7900 Series. Compatible mobile GPUs are R9 M300 series, R7 M200 series,  R7 M300 series, R5 M200 Series, R5 M300 Series, HD 8500M – HD 8900M Series, R9 M200 Series, and HD 7700M – HD 7900M Series.
