New Battlefield V Ray Tracing Benchmarks Show Nvidia Seriously Rushed RTX Series GPUs
Battlefield V with Ray Tracing On Performs up to 50% Better With New Nvidia Driver
Nvidia’s latest GPU series hasn’t been doing that well. Usually, next-gen cards do about 30% better than last-gen cards around the same price point but that’s definitely not the case with Nvidia RTX. Ray Tracing seemed like a disappointing feature as the RTX 2080Ti couldn’t run Battlefield V at 1080p ultra with ray tracing on at 60 FPS. Thanks to the latest Nvidia gaming driver, Battlefield V does up to 50% better than it did with driver 416.94.
New Battlefield V Benchmarks
By fixing a few bugs and using new optimization methods, Battlefield V was able to run up to 50% better than it did before the update. Before the update, with Battlefield V running at 1080p, ultra, ray tracing on, the RTX 2080TI ran the game at an average of 58 FPS. This was obviously disappointing and it seemed like ray tracing is going to become a feature that no one is going to use but, with the new update, it seems like ray tracing will actually be useful.
TechSpot benchmarked the RTX 2080TI and RTX 2080 in Battlefield V multiplayer and found that there is in fact up to a 50% performance gain with the new drive and update. As Dice promised 1440p ultra 60 FPS is possible with ray tracing on if you have the RTX 2080Ti. In the Tirailleur map, Battlefield V ran at an average of 60 FPS with the RTX 2080TI while running at 1440p ultra. If you have the RTX 2080 you should probably decrease the game’s resolution to 1080p if you want to run the game at ultra and get 60 FPS.

RTX is a Rushed Product
We already had the idea that Nvidia had rushed RTX when they said that the latest game that will feature ray tracing isn’t going to come out for a few months after RTX. We had no idea that it was this rushed. Nvidia and Dice were able to get a 50% performance boost with a very simple update. This shows that Nvidia hasn’t done a lot of work with ray tracing and there are still a lot of bugs. We will probably have to wait until next-gen cards to experience actual ray tracing.
