Earlier reports on leaked new models

HWBOT just leaked Specs and hardware info of the upcoming AMD Monster CPUs. the core count, TDP and base clocks for the Threadripper 2970X and 2050X CPU models. AMD other CPUs, the 2990WX and 2970WX models are rumored to feature watercoolers. Rumors also say that there should also be a 12-core / 24-core 2920X CPU, but no clue about those yet.

AMD’s Threadripper 2990X flagship was already spotted for pre-orders on a Candian site with an MSRP of ~US$1840 (might be available for US$1,500 in the U.S.), The Threadripper 2970X should integrate 24 cores and 48 threads, and, according to HWBOT it has a 3.5 GHz base clock, which is 100 MHz higher than that of the 2990X model. It also has a lower TDP of 180 W, and the MSRP should be around US$1,000. As for the Threadripper 2950X model, core count is limited to 16, so a total of 32 threads, and the base clocks are lowered to 3.1 GHz, with a TDP of 125 W and its price could be in the US$600-800 range.

THE FLAGSHIP SPECS

The Threadripper 2990X sports an impressive 80 MB cache (16 MB L2 + 64 MB L3) and a TDP of 250W, which of course increases while overclocking. It should be noted that the earlier Cyberport listing showed a TDP of 180W, which is most likely to be at the base clock. While single-core boost clocks can go up to 4.2 GHz, it is possible to get an all-core boost up to 4.12 GHz using a proper liquid cooling setup as demonstrated by HKEPC’s benchmarks. The 2nd generation Threadrippers can be easily accommodated on existing X399 TR4 socket motherboards with a BIOS update.
