Nintendo Switch 2.0 (Switch XL) Might Go with 7nm AMD CPU and GPU Next-Gen
Nintendo Switch 2.0 Might Feature AMD Hardware Instead of Nvidia
The Nintendo Switch is a great console but its biggest problem is the console’s outdated specs. The Switch isn’t able to run triple-A games so a hardware refresh with better specs is an exciting idea. Of course, you shouldn’t expect to run something like GTA V at 4k ultra 60 FPS but, a hardware refresh of the Switch with AMD can allow fans to run games such as GTA V and Assassins Creed Odyssey on the go.
Nintendo Switch 2.0 to Go with AMD
We know that AMD Navi is going to be released sometime in 2019 and thanks to its 7nm size it will be the perfect option for a slim and light portable console. Thanks to Zen 2 and AMD Navi’s 7nm size, developers can give it less power but get more performance in return giving it a big advantage over other companies in the portable gaming market. AMD themselves have said that their next-gen 7nm CPUs and GPUs are going to catapult gaming forward.
In 2019, AMD will catapult computing, gaming, and visualization technologies forward with the world’s first 7nm high-performance CPUs and GPUs, providing the power required to reach technology’s next horizon. During her CES keynote, Dr. Su and guests will provide a view into the diverse applications for new computing technologies ranging from solving some of the world’s toughest challenges to the future of gaming, entertainment and virtual reality with the potential to redefine modern life.
Is Nintendo Switch 2.0 Even Happening?
Well Nintendo themselves haven’t said that it is going to happen or it’s not but, there are some clues that suggest Nintendo Switch 2.0 is happening. Nintendo has said that they want to increase the console lifespan and if they want to do that, they will have to release a hardware refresh of the Switch. With the Switch, Nintendo has been trying to get more third-party developers to support the console and if they want to do that they’ll have to release a console that can run third-party games. Of course, triple-A games can run through streaming on the Switch but that isn’t the true portable experience as you consistently need fast wifi. If Nintendo doesn’t release a hardware refresh for the Switch, triple-A companies are likely going to drop it as games running through streaming don’t sell that well and in the coming years, the Nintendo Switch will struggle to run any triple-A video game.
