Nvidia GeForce NOW, A Strategy to Give All Gamers High-end Gaming Experience
Nvidia (NVDA) Says Your under-powered PC can now run high-performance GeForce GTX GPUs with GeForce NOW
Starting Jan 7th, the game-streaming service Geforce Now by Nvidia got to a new milestone. It was launched successfully on beta last summer, is available now as a free beta compatible with most Windows-based desktops and laptops.
GEFORCE NOW, New Way To Expand PC Gaming Market by Nvidia
In June, NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) launched its new GeForce NOW service in beta to Mac users. For those who do not know about this cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW allows gamers to play selected games streamed from a virtual, high-performance PC in the cloud only by streaming. This innovative idea can help gamers with outdated hardware enjoy the wonders of PC gaming. Basically let gamers enjoy gaming in low end PCs or even tablets and phones in near future and in horizons of the project. NVIDIA’S GEFORCE NOW is very simple to setup and start gaming right away, basically is just internet. Users download the client app from NVIDIA, and they can immediately download purchased games from digital stores, including Steam, Battle.net, Origin, Uplay, or GOG.
The other aspect of the service is that! The real strategy behind GeForce NOW, may be the fact that NVIDIA has estimated that there are more than 200 million GeForce users around the world. And its average selling price for its graphics cards is $180 per unit. That works out to over $30 billion worth of revenue. Of course, NVIDIA isn’t going to suddenly generate that much revenue in one year from its new gaming segment. But have in mind that it is the potential market and many of these people do not ever buy new products until the one in use breaks. So a portion of the market is inactive and this maybe a solution to make them join the NOW by much lower cost for gaming.
We have seen huge rise in gaming market and all its potentials make us believe that NVIDIA is set to generate significant revenue from GeForce NOW, but it would need tens of millions of users to sign up at least. That is far from certain right now. But in the long term, the most beneficial outcome for NVIDIA may be to have customers buy actual GeForce graphics cards for their own PCs rather than rely on the revenue from customers who pay by the hour to use a cloud streaming service. It’s easy for gamers to simply stop paying the $25 for GeForce NOW access.
NOW Connected to Uplay PC Games, Steam, Battle.net, Origin or GOG.
GeForce NOW is now connected to gamers library of games in many of the top digital stores like Uplay PC, Ubisoft’s PC games portal.
“Ubisoft is excited that gamers playing acclaimed franchises such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege on Uplay PC can now enjoy outstanding play experiences on PCs and Macs thanks to NVIDIA’s futuristic GeForce NOW service, without needing a high-end PC,” said Chris Early, vice president of Partnerships and Revenue at Ubisoft.
“NVIDIA is powering a high-quality experience that now streams a selection of Ubisoft’s top franchises.”
GeForce NOW is set to provide the freedom of having high-performance PC gaming anywhere on any device. It connects a wide range of Windows and macOS computers to supercomputers in the cloud, streaming 1080p graphics at up to 120 frames per second.
Games Availability in GEFORCE NOW
The Geforce now it self is now available in pubic beta for Windows and Mac based desktops and laptops in most of North America and Europe. The GeForce NOW app has been localized in French and German, with local language support for many top and diverse gaming experiences including PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, Arma 3, Garry’s Mod, Fortnite, and more.
“It’s really fun to be able to play Paragon and Fortnite using NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW service,” said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games.
“The games stream very smoothly, even on my Macbook Air, giving you the feeling you’re playing natively. Well done, NVIDIA!”
