PUBG Steam loses a massive amount of players in March caused by Fortnite

PUBG hasn’t been doing well in the past two months

PlayerUnknowns Battleground exploded back in August 2017 on Steam and it was growing until January but in February it lost a massive amount of players. In February alone PUBG lost an average of 193k players and the number has been going down since. While PUBG is losing its player base in the PC market Fortnite is getting bigger and bigger every day.

According to Steam Charts in January PUBG got a 148,728.3 average player gain but in February 2018 it lost 193,871.5 average players and 95,606.7 average players lost in March 2018. In February Fortnite got extremely popular. PUBG performs very poorly even on PC. Even if you have high-end specs in your PC you will experience frequent stuttering and major FPS drops in game and that is very annoying. The fact that PUBG costs $29.99 and has so many problems many PC gamers started playing Fortnite instead of PUBG. The frequent Fortnite updates that added many new weapons, fixed issues, and added skins made Fortnite less repetitive when compared to PUBG as PUBG’s updates don’t frequently add new features.

If you play Fortnite you know that the map is very tiny especially when compared to PUBG. In Fortnite it’s very easy to meet players even if you don’t land in a popular location and because of the map’s size, a match takes very little time. In PUBG the map is much bigger then Fortnite’s so a round could take a very long time to finish and player encounter is less frequent. Because of this PUBG Corp is working on a new map codenamed Savage. The new map is much tinier than the current maps available in the game. You can sign-up to get a code and get access to the new map.
