Sea of Thieves data mine hints to an open beta

We might see a new open beta for Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves has had many alphas. Rare has been launching an alpha for Sea of Thieves for a long time. First they started out with less than one hundred people and over time more and more people participated in the alpha. In the last alpha that Rare hosted anyone that signed up for the Sea of Thieves Insider Program before December first was able to play in the Alpha. It seems like Sea of  Thieves is going to get it’s first open beta.

According to some data mining done by Reddit user vJoeyz when Sea of Thieves got a new update New Pirate Generator customization options were added (Dirt, eye color,  facial hair, freckles, scars, and more), more Kraken Ship Wrapping Tentacle, More Kraken ship grab materials and textures added, More Hideout GameObjects and Blueprint, Equipment Shopkeeper added, Pocket Watch and spyglass, Island/Ship Cosmetic Chest added, More skelly difficulty ranks added, two new Tavern NPC models added, Custom effects when hitting the Kraken, new swimming animations, Two generic Shopkeeper models added, new ship anchor model added, laugh and fear sound effects for Skelly, an armory menue, and the biggest thing found in the data mine an open beta with Order of Souls quests.

A very large number of players participated in Sea of Thieve’s latest alpha. Exactly 314,021 players participated in the Sea of Thieves Alpha, Players earned 871,180,805 Gold in the Alpha, players played the alpha for more than 2,000,000 hours, players finished 402,488 quests in the alpha, and the Sea of Thieves alpha got a peak of 35,882 concurrent players. A lot more players would’ve participated if gamers didn’t have to sign up for the insider program before December first to participate in the alpha. The Alpha got 30,595 content creators, 14,260,44 hours of Sea of Thieves alpha was watched in Twitch, 104,240 average viewers on Twitch, Sea of Thieves Alpha was the #1 game viewed on Twitch and Mixer, and a peak of 269k concurrent viewers on Twitch.
