Battle Royal games have become very famous, and the Chinese government has taken notice. Unfortunately for Chinese gamers, the Chinese government might ban Battle Royal games. PUBG is a battle royal game.
The gaming branch of the Chinese government said Battle royals are too gory and bloody for the Chinese government. They compared Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds to ancient arena fights. In ancient arena fights, a bunch of people fought until one survived just like PUBG. This is a debate that has been happening for a long time. Gamers say games are not real, and they have an age rating so kids can’t play gory games, but some other people say the games are gory so they should be banned.
The Chinese government believes the game negatively influences teenagers physical and mental health. The Chinese government said it would be hard to approve PUBG to launch in China and they warned Chinese game companies not to make battle royal games. That’s bad news for mega Chinese corporation Tencent because they invested money in Player Unkown’s Battlegrounds, and many of PUBG’s players are from China. PUBG.corp will probably try to make PUBG get approved for publishing in China. PUBG’s not the only battle royal game Fortnite is a battle royal game, and in China, many people play it and enjoy it. If Battleroyal games are banned, Chinese players wouldn’t be able to play many great games because they are a battle royal game.

A few days ago Greene talked about PUBG’s future. Apparently, Greene thinks in the future PUBG will be like a service. A service where you buy the game, and it gets better over time instead of getting a sequel after a few years. He said PUBG.corp would make the game better by adding more assets, polishing the game, and adding new maps. Greene told IGN he believed Player Unkwons Battlegrounds would become this successful when it was only a mod.
1-2 weeks ago Bluehole revealed a new PUBG map. PUBGS’s new map is based on Mexico. The new map will feature a military base, towns, a lot of cacti, and much more. We don’t know all the things that will be available on the map. The map is desert based, but it has a lot of stuff. PUBG.corp didn’t allow pcgamer to see the whole map, but according to them, the map feels like a “natural fit” for PUBGs playing system. We know the map features building, mountains, hills, a crashed plane that’s on fire, a wrestling arena, craters from Metroid, a church, and more.
