The Nvidia GTX 1180/2080 Ashes of Singularity Benchmark “Leak” Likely Fake

The GTX 1180 leaked benchmarks are probably faked

The internet has been exploding with rumors about Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs. Since everyone is searching about this many put fake leaks out on the internet to get ad revenue. That is probably the case with the user that claims to have leaked Nvidia GTX 2080 TIs benchmark in Ashes of Singularity. There are many things that point to this being a fake leak.

In the “leaked” image it says that this user is running Ashes of Singularity with an I7 770k and the GTX 2080TI. The first problem is the fact that it says the GTX 2080 TI instead of the GTX 2080. Nvidia doesn’t release the TI model of their high-end GPUs for months after release. For example, the GTX 1080 was released on May 27th, 2016 and the GTX 1080TI was released on  March 10, 2017. This is the case with pretty much all Nvidia GPUs. If this is actually the GTX 2080 TI then that means Nvidia is doing something unusual and releasing the GTX 2080 TI soon after the GTX 2080.

The other issue is the performance. In the image, we see that while Ashes of Singularity was running on an acclaimed GTX 2080 TI it got 53.1 FPS on average batches crazy 1080p. According to Digital Foundry’s benchmarks, the GTX 1080 was able to run Ashes of Singularity at 4k extreme, no MSAA and it always stayed above 45 FPS. The GTX 2080 TI is going to be Nvidia’s next-gen Nvidia GPU so it will definitely be more powerful then the GTX 1080.

The Nvidia GTX 1180/GTX 2080 is expected to feature 3584 Cuda Cores, 16GB of VRAM, 1600MHz core clock, 1800MHz boost clock, 13 TFLOPS, 16 Gbps Memory Speed, and a TDP of 170 to 200 watts. It is expected to cost around $700. If these rumors are true then the GTX 1180 is going to be revelutioanry for the gaming market and it might finally make 4K 60 FPS ultra settings, gaming reletivly cheap.
