The PS5 Might Not Be Able to Run Triple-A Games at 4K when it comes out (Playstation 5, release date, Specs)

The Sony PlayStation 5 Might Not be Able to do True 4K

A lot of rumors have been going around about the Sony PlayStation 5, and gamers are very excited to see the next-gen consoles. Next-gen consoles some time bring big changes in terms of graphics and specs. This might happen with Sony’s PS 5. Right now, gamers are wondering if 4K gaming is going to be possible with the next-gen consoles on every game. Right now, the Xbox One X is able to play many games at 4K 30 FPS, but unfortunately, the PS 5 might not be able to play true 4K, 30 FPS on every game.

The Specs:

The Sony PlayStation 5 is expected to feature a new 7nm GPU called Navi. The 14nm Vega 10 GPU features 4,096 Stream Processors but thanks to the smaller 7nm GPU, Navi could feature 1.6x more logic into the same amount of space. According to rumors the Sony PlayStation 5 is going to target $500 PCs whenever it comes out (sometime around 2020.) Now, you have to wonder if by that time a $500 PC is able to play games at 4K 30 FPS. Even though the hardware is going to improve significantly, thanks to Nvidia RTX, graphics in games will improve as well, so you will need a stronger GPU to run 2020 games at 4K.

Let’s assume that Navi is able to run games at 4k 30 FPS thanks to optimization but, it will likely be held back by its CPU. Usualy consoles have weak CPUs, so the GPU is held back from its true potential. This is the case with the PS 4 Pro, because of its weak CPU, the GPU is held back from running at its true potential. If Sony wants to run games at 4K 30 FPS in 2020, they would have to make the PS 5 cost more then $400 and that might not sit well with gamers.
