The Threadripper 2990WX is the Most Powerful CPU Off all Time, No Argument

AMD Threadripper 2990WX is a Monsterous CPU

AMD recently put up the Threadripper 2 series up for pre-order, with the 2990WX costing you $1,799.99. The 2990WX might cost a lot but, every penny is worth it if you want something truly powerful for your workstation setup. AMD just recently got into the high-end CPU market with their Threadripper CPUs, and that made Intel wake up. Threadripper was priced at a lower price than Intel’s high-end CPU at the time, but it had the same performance.

AMD Threadripper 2990WX VS I9-7980XE Specs:

AMD Threadripper 2990WX is the most powerful CPU of all time, and that is no exaggeration. Threadripper 2990WX features 32 cores, 64 threads, base clock of 3 GHz, boost clock of 4.2 GHz, and a 250W TDP. The best part is that this CPU only costs $1799.99. Intel’s closest competitor is the I9-7980XE which features significantly fewer cores, but it costs $2000. The I9-7980XE features only 18 Cores, 36 Threads, and a turbo boost of 4.4 GHz. This is Intel’s most powerful consumer CPU, and it’s not even close to the Threadripper 2990WX, so we have to wonder, what is Intel going to do? Thier strongest CPU isn’t even close to the competition, but it costs a lot more.

I9-7980XE VS Threadripper 2990WX Benchmarks

Specs aren’t an accurate reflection of how the CPU is going to perform. To know that we have to look at the benchmarks. According to the latest benchmarks, Threadripper 2990WX scored a 5,089 on Cinebench R15 Multi-Core benchmark.  The I9-7980XE running at stock only scored a 4,136. In this cases, specs reflect on the performance as well. This means the Threadripper 2990WX performs %18.727 better than the I9-7980XE but Threadripper costs almost $200 less.

The Threadripper 2990WX is going to destroy the I9-7980XE in multitasking thanks to its high core count. Threadripper will probably do a lot better on rendering videos then the I9-7980XE so Intel will have to retaliate hard.
