Intel 9th-Gen and Nvidia GTX 11 (Turning) GPUs to Capture the PC Gaming Market from Ryzen and Vega
AMD is Going to be Destroyed by Nvidia and Intel in the coming months
Since AMD released their Ryzen CPU lineup, Intel has been struggling to gain an advantage over Ryzen 7 CPUs, but it seems like they are finally going to one-up AMD with their next-gen CPUs. That’s not all the bad news for AMD as they are also going to lose a large part of the GPU market to Nvidia because of the GTX 11 series GPUs.
AMD to Loose the Mid-Range or Gaming CPU Market to Intel
Although the Core i7-8700K features 6 cores and 12 threads, it is still able to compete with AMD’s 8 core CPUs and in some cases beat AMD. Newer games are getting optimized to use more cores, so AMD gets the advantage in most CPU intensive games, but Intel’s 9th-gen CPUs are going to be the one that one up AMD. According to the most recent rumors, Intel’s 9th-gen CPUs are going to come out in September, and they are going to use the Z390 Chipset. The Intel Core I9-9900K, I7-9700K, and the I5-9600K are all coming out sometime in October.
The high-end version the Intel Core I9-9900K is rumored to feature 8 cores, 16 threads, 16 MB of L3 Cache, and the Intel UHD 620 IGP. The Core I9-9900K is probably going to be priced somewhere around $350. AMD’s high-end gaming CPU the Ryzen 7 2700X features 8 cores, 16 threads, 4.3 GHz Max Boost, and 20MB of Cache. Intel is going to have a significant advantage over AMD thanks to the higher frequency, at least in games. AMD will have to reduce the price of the Ryzen 7 CPUs so they can compete.
If AMD does lower the price, the closest competitor will likely be Intel Core i7-9700k. The Intel Core i7-9700k features 8 Cores, 8 Threads, 12 MB of L3 cache, and a boost clock of 4.9 GHz. It will likely cost $100 less than the I9-9900K similair to Intel’s 8th-gen CPUs. If the rumors are correct, the I9-9900K will be the sweet spot for gaming, but the i7-9700k might not be the best option for the future.
Nvidia to Win the Gaming GPU Market with GTX 11 (Turning) (GTX 1180 VS Vega)
Nvidia and AMD have been pretty close at least in the gaming market, but it seems like with the Nvidia GTX 1180 Nvidia is going to pull ahead big time. The GTX 1180 is expected to feature 3584 Cuda Cores, 16-12 GB of VRAM, 1600MHz core clock, 1800MHz boost clock, 13 TFLOPS, 16 Gbps Memory Speed, and a TDP of 170 to 200 watts. It’s going to cost somewhere around $700, and it’s expected to come out sometime in September.
Although we don’t know how the GTX 1180 is going to perform we have a pretty good estimate thanks to Titan XP’s performance and GTX 1180’s expected specs. The GTX 1180 is supposed to be able to play even the most demanding video-games such as the Witcher 3 at Ultimate 4K 60+ FPS, and that is on a $700 GPU. Because of miners, it’s really hard to buy a Vega 64 for MSRP price, but even for MSRP, it wouldn’t be worth it. Vega 64 features 1546 MHz boost clock, 12.7 TFLOPs, and 8 GB of VRAM. AMD will have to reduce the price by a lot, so they can compete as current gen Nvidia GPUs will also get a price drop. When the GTX 1180 you will likely be able to find current-gen Nvidia GPUs for $50 to $100 cheaper.
