This is Why Sony Doesn’t Want Cross-Play on PlayStation
Sony Blocking Cross-Play

Cross-Play was one of the best things that happened to the gaming market in 2018. For the first time ever, gamers were able to play their multiplayer games with friends regardless of their platform. For some games such as Minecraft and Fortnite, gamers are able to play with gamers on every major platform that the games are available on but, for other games the story is quite different. Sony has been blocking cross-play for a while now and, their reasons don’t make a lot of sense.
Right now, Sony has two responses for the reasons they are blocking cross-play. Sony’s first reason is that the PlayStation 4 is the best place to play the latest games and the second reason was that they want to keep the PlayStation community safe from players on other platforms. As you can see, both of these reasons are completely illogical. Even if PlayStation is the best place to play games, it doesn’t mean that gamers on PlayStation shouldn’t play with other platforms. Enabling cross-play wouldn’t exactly make the online community unsafe as Sony will still have control.
Sony’s reasons for blocking cross-play don’t make a lot of sense so, why is Sony actually doing this? Well, it’s probably because of the fact that Sony’s PlayStation 4 is doing way better than the Xbox One. If Sony enables cross-play, a gamer that’s on the Xbox One wouldn’t have to switch over to the PS 4 to play with their friends. Of course, cross-play can also gain some sales for Sony as gamers that have friends on the Xbox One can buy the PS 4 and still play with their friends but, Sony has the advantage over the Xbox One in terms of exclusives. There is a good chance that gamers would choose to go with the PS 4 over the Xbox One for gamers such as God of War and Spiderman.
