$500 Next-Gen 7nm AMD Ryzen CPU Outperforms $1,700 Intel CPU (Leaks and Rumors)

AMD Zen 2 Latest Leaks and Rumors

CES 2019 has come and passed but, we don’t have a lot of official info about AMD’s next-gen Ryzen CPUs, 7nm Zen 2. AMD already blew the competition out of the water when they released their Ryzen CPUs so, PC enthusiasts were hoping for AMD to do the same thing again. All recent rumors and leaks have been hyping up AMD Zen 2 and that got enthusiasts very excited. AMD also released benchmarks for Zen 2 that further proved the credibility of these rumors and showed that AMD is going to blow Intel out of the water.

AMD Official Benchmarks

AMD has released official benchmark scores for their 8 core and 16 thread Zen 2 CPU. Unfortunately, AMD themselves haven’t given us the name of the CPU that was benchmarked or the price point. All we know is that it was able to beat out the $500 Intel Core I9-9900k. According to AMD, the 8 core/16 threads variant of Zen 2 scored 2,057 on Cinebench R15 while the Intel Core I9-9900k scored 2,040 on Cinebench R15. All benchmarks were supposedly done on identical systems but, the Zen 2 system only used 130w-132w of power while the Intel Core I9-9900k system used 180w of power. The thing is that the clock speeds aren’t finalized yet so, we should expect better performance when the CPU is released.

AMD Zen 2 Specs Leaked

Thanks to a credible source, we have gotten a spec list for the AMD Zen 2 CPUs. If this specs list is true, Intel doesn’t stand much of a chance

Now remember, this leak maybe completely false but, it has been confirmed to be true by many rumors from other websites. Even AMD’s official benchmarks somewhat confirm this specs list. If this list is true, AMD most likely used the Ryzen 5 3600X which is going to cost $229. If this $229 is able to outperform a $500 Intel CPU, Intel doesn’t stand much of a chance.

$500 Zen 2 to Outperform $1700 Intel CPU

If the specs list above is true, the AMD Ryzen 9 3850X is going to be able to outperform the Intel Core I9-7960X by a long shot. The 3850X is supposedly going to feature a boost clock of 5.1 GHz while the Core I9-7960X features a boost clock of 4.40 GHz. The most surprising part is the fact that the 3850X has a TDP of 125w while the Core I9-7960X features a TDP of 165W. Now, even if the Ryzen 9 3850X was to cost you $1700, it would still be worth it over the Core I9-7960X. The thing is that the Ryzen 9 3850X is going to cost $500 so, you get better performance for $1200 less.
