Nintendo Switch Online service coming September

Nintendo Switch’s paid Online service is coming in a few months

The Nintendo Switch has many features that fans love but most gamers don’t like paid online service. Nintendo Switch is going to get a paid online service but it’s a few months away and it will cost $19.99 a year instead of the $59.99 price tag that comes with PS Plus and Xbox Live.

Nintendo’s president Tatsumi Kimishima said in Nintendo’s corporate management policy briefing, ‘“Next let’s talk about Nintendo Switch Online, the paid subscription service that expands the online functionality of the Nintendo Switch. We reported previously that the service would launch in 2018, and now the official start time has been set to September 2018. Work is progressing on ways to further heighten the gaming experience for consumers. Details will be made available as they are finalized.” Nintendo Switch online is one of Nintendo Switch’s controversial features since this is the first Nintendo console to have a paid online service. Right now Nintendo Switch’s online isn’t very popular amongst gamers because you need a Smartphone to use voice chat or join online lobbies and play with your friends on Splatoon 2 which is currently the only Switch game that supports the app.

The Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular consoles of 2017. The Nintendo Switch sold 10 million units in only 9 months exceeding Nintendo’s expectations by millions of units even though when Nintendo announced it many developers and gamers believed that it will definitely fail and become another Wii U situation. Nintendo expected the Nintendo Switch to sell only 8 million units from  April 2017 through March 2018. For comparison, the Xbox One sold only  7 million units in 10.5 months,  the PS 3 sold 5.63 million copies in 10.5 months, and the Xbox 360 sold 5.9 million units in 10.5 months. The Nintendo Switch also became the product and the console of the year. That’s not all the Nitnedo Switch also became the fastest selling console of all time in the United States. Nintendo needed this huge success after Wii U’s big failure. The Wii U sold only 13.56 million units in its whole lifetime.
