4K gaming has been a mere fantasy for many gamers for years. Consoles that can run games at 4k such as the PS 4 Pro and Xbox One X are relatively new, and they cost a hundred to two hundred more than the standard versions of the consoles. Most gamers end up buying a PS 4 Slim or Xbox One S as they don’t own a 4K TV or they don’t care about the better graphics.

4K Gaming to Become Mainstream

The next-gen consoles are expected to come out in around two years and by that time, 4K TVs are likely going to be much more affordable than they are right now. By two years which is the expected release date for the PS 5, you can probably pick up a 4K TV for as low as $170. Right now the cheapest 4K TV on Amazon will run you $319. You can expect a significant price drop especially if you want to buy older TV models. By that time 4K videos and movies are likely going to cost less than they do now, and more casual users will watch 4K movies and experience 4K. Once the casual users come on, then 4K is going to become mainstream.

Are the Next-Gen Consoles Even Going to be Able to Run Games at 4K? PS 5 Specs

A 4K display is useless if you don’t have anything that can use it, so you might be wondering if the next-gen consoles are even going to be able to run games at 4k. Although we don’t have an official answer, thanks to rumors we could guess. Unfortunatly, 4K 60 FPS ultra is probably not going to be possible on the next-gen consoles at least on triple-A games but 4K 30 FPS is likely going to be available on every game.

According to the latest rumors, AMD is making a new GPU 7nm Architecture for the Sony PlayStation 5. The PS 5 is rumored to use  AMD Navi graphics architecture. We don’t know much about the Navi GPUs, all we know is that it is going to use the 7nm process. For the CPU, the PS 5 is rumored to use AMD’s Ryzen CPUs. The PS 5 is going to come out in 2020 in the earliest so by that time a Ryzen 7 CPU that costs $300 will likely cost around $100. The PS 5 is expected to be as powerful as a mid-range $500 PC when it is released in 2020.
