The Sony PlayStation 5 is Going to be Able to Run Games at 4k 60 FPS Thanks to Ryzen CPU and AMD Navi
The PS 5 is Going to Feature AMD Ryzen and AMD Navi

The current-gen consoles are already 5 years old so rumors have been going around the internet about Sony’s next-gen consoles, the PlayStation 5. For the first time, console gamers were able to experience their games at 4k on the PS 4 Pro but most games weren’t able to run at 4k 60 FPS. According to the latest rumors, the PS 5 will be the first console that will be able to play triple-A games at 4k 60 FPS.
PS 5 to Use AMD Navi and AMD Ryzen
The Sony PlayStation 5 is rumored to use an AMD Ryzen CPU. AMD will probably make a CPU for the PS 5 based on the Ryzen architecture which will make it a powerful console. Usualy consoles have weak CPUs but powerful GPUs to keep prices low but have good gaming performance. Thanks to the AMD Ryzen CPU, the PS 5 will not be held back by its CPU. Thanks to a credible rumor, we know that someone at Sony is working with AMD Ryzen technology.
“A principal programmer at Sony associated with the firm’s Advanced Technology Group is working with AMD’s Ryzen technology, improving the Zen core’s micro-architecture support within the LLVM compiler stack – a key component of a tool used in the PlayStation 4 development environment. Of course, there is no PS4 product using the Ryzen processor, leading to speculation that this is related to a prospective next-gen PlayStation 5 console currently in development.
The evidence – unearthed by Linux-specialist site Phoronix – shows the highly experienced Sony programmer making a number of commits to the LLVM github over the last few weeks, all of them related to the “znver1″ architecture, the codename for AMD’s first generation Ryzen processors. On top of that, information on LinkedIn confirms the staffer’s involvement in compiler development for PlayStation hardware. Game credits in Media Molecule’s Tearaway and Evolution Studios’ DriveClub confirm that the developer is also a part of Sony’s Advanced Technology Group, which serves a number of roles in the Sony organisation.”
Considering that Sony has always gone with AMD for their CPUs and the fact that this is Ryzen first-gen makes sense as it wouldn’t be too expensive but it will be pretty powerful. Another rumor suggests that the Sony PlayStation 5 is going to feature AMD Navi GPU. Of course, just like the Ryzen CPU, it will most likely be a special GPU made for Sony based on the 7nm Navi architecture.
