AMD Radeon VII Loses to Nvidia RTX 2070 in Leaked FFXV Benchmark

A few weeks ago there was a lot of hype surrounding AMD’s 7nm GPU series and many believed that we would finally get a glimpse of AMD Navi but, that didn’t happen. Instead of AMD Navi, we got Radeon VII, the world’s first 7nm gaming GPU. Gamers were pretty hyped to get their hands on the world’s first 7nm GPU but, when AMD released Radeon VII benchmarks some of the hype died down. Now, we have gotten our hands on Final Fantasy XV benchmarks for the Radeon VII and it doesn’t perform anywhere near the Nvidia RTX 2070.

Thanks to Twitter user Komachi, we have gotten our hands on AMD Radeon VII Final Fantasy XV benchmarks.

As you can see in the benchmark scores above, the AMD Radeon VII scored 8,321 with the game running at standard quality 1440p and with FFXV benchmark running at high-quality 1440p, the Radeon VII got a score of 5371. As you can see, with the game running at standard quality the RTX 2070 is able to perform far better than the Radeon VII which is bad news for AMD as the RTX 2070 is a $500 GPU. At lower quality settings the AMD Radeon VII does far better but, the RTX 2070 still performs really similarly to the Radeon VII.

Of course, Final Fantasy XV gives RTX many advantages as it is an Nvidia title so, the Nvidia RTX 2070 may have a big advantage over the AMD Radeon VII. So, we will have to compare it with the Nvidia GTX 1080TI. Final Fantasy XV is an Nvidia title but, it wouldn’t give the GTX 1080TI any advantages as it doesn’t have DLSS or anything. Remember, the Radeon VII is supposed to compete with the RTX 2080 but, in both benchmarks, the GTX 1080TI is able to beat it.
