AMD Zen 2 7nm vs Intel Sunny Cove 10nm CPU | Latest Leaks and Rumors
Zen 2 and Sunny Cove Latest Leaks/Rumors
Right now, Intel controls most of the market with their coffee lake CPUs. When Ryzen came out it was able to blow away the competition and amaze everyone but, Intel quickly released 6 core CPUs which were able to take a large part of the market back from AMD. The latest rumors claim that AMD Zen 2 is going to blow away all current competition but, Intel’s 10nm Sunny Cove may have something to say about that.
AMD Zen 2 Specs List Leaked
Thanks to sources around the internet, we have gotten our hands on a specs list for AMD Zen 2 which you can see below. As you can see, AMD’s next-gen CPUs are supposedly going to start from $99 but, they’ll feature 6 cores and 12 threads which is revelutionary as you can’t get anything more than 4 cores for that price. AMD also has the advantage in the high-end and mid-end market as for the low price of $229 you can get 8 cores/16 threads and a boost clock of 4.8GHz. This means that Zen 2 is going to feature powerful single core performance thanks to its high boost clock and that means that Zen 2 is going to perform way better then Ryzen CPUs in gaming.

Zen 2 Official Benchmarks
Although AMD didn’t really mention Zen 2 at CES 2019, they did give us benchmark scores for an 8 core/16 threads variant of Zen 2 in Cinebench R15. In the benchmark, Zen 2 was able to score 2,057 while the $500 Intel Core I9-9900k scored 2,040. If the specs list above is true, a $229 Zen 2 CPU is going to be able to outperform the $500 Core I9-9900k which means that Intel will have to step up their game.
Intel Sunny Cove 7-Zip Performance
Intel’s Architecture Cores Group, Ronak Singhal said that Sunny Cove is going to use three different tactics to boost Sunny Cove’s performance. The first tactic is the fact that Sunny Cove cores are going to increase the cache sizes to find more opportunities for correspondence. The second tactic is that Sunny Cove will be able to perform more operations in parallel and the third tactic is that Sunny Cove will use instructions that’ll increase the speeds of cryptography and AI.
Now, let’s get to the benchmark scores. According to Intel’s demo, Sunny Cove was able to perform up to %75 better than an equivalent Coffe Lake CPU in 7-Zip encode using AES-256. Unfortunately, that’s not the whole story. This demo was done on a 7-zip benchmark that was changed to use Sunny Cove’s instructions.
Sunny Cove iGPU Performance
According to the latest rumors, Sunny Cove is going to feature a vastly improved gen.11 iGPU and it will be the first time that an Intel iGPU has hit 1 teraflop of performance. Unfortunately for Intel, AMD seems to have the advantage in the iGPU scene as the Vega 11 iGPU features 1.7 teraflops of performance. According to Intel, much of the performance gain is due to the increase in execution units, 24 in Gen.9 to
