PC workstation users have been waiting for AMD’s next-gen high-end CPUs. Fans have been waiting for AMD’s next-gen high-end CPUs for a long time. Intel has also announced their high-end CPUs which are going to feature 32 cores making it the strongest CPU under $2000. Intel’s answer to the Threadripper 2990X is the Intel Core i9-7980XE which features 18 Cores/36 Threads and a max turbo of 4.40GHz. The i9-7980XE is priced at $1,925 which isn’t even close to the Threadripper 2990X.

According to an image by VideoCardzthe AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990X is going to be priced at $2,399.00 Canadian Dollars. That is 1850 USD which is very impressive. With this CPU AMD will dominate the high-end CPU scene so it would be interesting to see what Intel is going to do so they can compete with AMD.  According to the listing on CanadaComptuers the AMD Threadripper 2990X is going to feature 32-core and 64-thread and that is amazing. With the Threadripper 2990X multitasking will be a breeze and tasks such as video editing and CPU intensive work will be really easy. According to the listing the AMD Threadripper 2990X is also going to feature 80 MB of total cache and a 250W TDP.

Threadripper 2990X VS Core i9-7980XE

The Core i9-7980XE features 18 Cores/36 Threads, 4.40GHz max speed, 24.75 MB of Chace, and it uses the X299 Chipset. Also, it costs $1,925 while the AMD Threadrupper 2990X features 32-cores and 64-threads and it will cost 1850 USD. If Intel doesn’t release something to compete with this CPU they will completely lose the high-end CPU market to AMD and in turn loose millions of Dollars. 

The AMD Threadripper 2990X is expected to come out sometime in Q3 and maybe in August according to numerous rumors.
