AMD is Going to win the High-End CPU Market 

AMD and Intel have been closely competing since AMD released the Ryzen 7 series CPUs as that forced Intel to release their 6 core CPUs far sooner than first planned. AMD released Threadripper, a high-end CPU that performed similair to Intel’s high-end CPU but for hundreds of Dollars less. Intel regained the market with the I9-7980XE but AMD is going to regain the market with the Threadripper 2990WX.

The High-End Market Threadripper 2990WX VS I9-7980XE

AMD’s Threadripper 2990WX is the most powerful consumer CPU of all time. This title was held by Intel’s Core I9-7980XE before Threadripper. AMD’s Threadripper 2990WX is far better than the I9-7980XE on paper. The I9-7980XE only features 18 cores and 36 threads while the Threadripper 2990WX features 32 Cores and 64 Threads. Also, the 2990WX costs $1799.99 while the I9-7980X will cost you $1,999.99. Intel will have to drop the I9-7980X’s price by at least $300, so they have any chance of competition but why would anyone sacrifice 14 cores for a few hundred Dollars.  

Now let’s talk performance. Latest benchmarks reveal that the Threadripper 2990WX performs much better than the I9-7980XE. According to the benchmarks, on Cinebench R15 multi-core becnmark The Threadripper 2990WX scored a 5089 while the I9 7980XE only got a 4136. Obviously, Threadripper beats Intel in every way.

Newegg: Right now you can pre-order this CPU for $1,799 from Newegg.  On Newegg, one customer can’t buy more than two Threadripper 2990WX CPUs as they don’t want a few people buying a bunch of these well many other users can’t find one for retail price.

Overclockers: Right now, you can pre-order the Threadripper 2990WX for £1,639.99 or you can get a financing from £44.79 a month. You will also get a three-year warranty and there isn’t a limit to how many CPUs you can buy.
