Is AMD Better Than Intel in Terms of Budget Gaming

Before Ryzen, There really wasn’t any competition between AMD and Intel as AMD CPUs were very weak and if you wanted to play games at 1080p 60 FPS ultra settings you had to go with Intel, but Ryzen made Intel get back on the game releasing their six core CPUs far earlier then planned. We have already answered if AMD is better then Intel in terms of gaming CPUs but now we are going to see if all of the rumors are true and AMD is better then Intel if you want to build your self a cheap gaming PC.

AMD Ryzen 3 2200G vs Intel Pentium G4620

According to benchmarks, the rumors are true AMD is a better option for budget gaming then Intel. In benchmark done by YouTuber Benchmark PC Tech – MultiTechnopark, on Hitman 2016 running at 1080p ultra with a GTX 1080 the AMD Ryzen 3 2200G scored an 84 and the Intel Pentium G4620 scored a 72. On Rise of the Tombraider very high, 1080p the Ryzen 3, 2200G scored a 115, and the Pentium G4620 scored an 82. These numbers aren’t surprising at all as the Ryzen 3 2200G features four cores while the Pentium G4620 features only two. In 2018, four cores is an absolute must for gaming. 

As you can see on the CPU alone, the Ryzen 3 2200G is the better option for gaming but, you might want to use the IGPU on these CPUs. Both CPUs come with a GPU, the Intel Pentium G4620 features the Intel HD Graphics 630 and the AMD Ryzen 3 2200G features Vega Graphics. The Ryzen 3 2200G does really well when compared to the Intel HD 630. Vega is the best option as it performs at least two times better than the Intel HD 630. You can do some light gaming with the Ryzen 3 2200G, but with the HD 630, gaming is pretty much not possible unless you want the game to look horrible.
