Fortnite is one of the most popular games of all time. Since Epic Games released the Battle Royal mode for Fortnite, it became insanely popular and got millions of players every day. Epic had a big competition in the PC and Xbox One market PUBG but thanks to the fact that it is a free to play game and it’s frequent updates and less issues compared to PUBG it quickly became one of the most popular games of all time and even bypassed PUBG after a few months. PUBG has been losing thousands of players each week and Fortnite has been gaining thousands of players. When Fortnite got the battle royal mode, the battle royal genre was one of the most popular genres of gaming mostly thanks to PUBG. The fact that Fortnite was free to play and it wasn’t pay to win gave it a massive leap over PUBG.
According to SuperData’s research data, Fortnite was able to make $318 million in May alone across all platforms. SuperData wrote, “Fortnite hits a new high but growth is slowing down. We estimate that Fortnite made $318 million across all platforms in May, up 7% from April. The majority of growth came from console, with mobile and PC both coming in flat compared to April.” In the console market Fortnite Battle Royal made the most amount of all games in the digital market. On PC Fortnite came in fifth and on the mobile market Fortnite wasn’t in the top 10. Considering that the only way Epic makes money from players is V-bucks $318 million is a lot especially considering that skins don’t even give players an advantage over others. Players that pay for skins will look better they wouldn’t get an advantage.
Fortnite Battle Royal is now available for download on the PC, Xbox One, PS 4, Nintendo Switch, and IOS.
