Rise of the Tomb Raider getting VR support
Rise of the Tomb Raider’s new PC update adds VR support
Rise of the Tomb Raider was arguably one of the best games of 2016 and VR is the new thing of 2017. Some people don’t like VR but some people love it, and this update is going to make both kinds of people very happy and excited. Tomb Raider’s official blog announced that a PC exclusive update for Rise of the Tomb Raider adds Steam VR support to Rise of the Tomb Raider. Right now Steam VR officially supports the HTC Vive, not the Oculus Rift but there are ways that you can unofficially get Steam VR on the Oculus Rift, but it doesn’t always work.
Most people can’t do things that they can do in games and Rise of the Tomb Raider is not an expectation but if you wanted to walk around in Croft Manor, shoot some bad guys, and more you’re in luck because Rise of the Tombraider Steam VR is available now. The new update adds SteamVR to the game, so owners of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are able to enjoy Rise of the Tomb Raider in VR. Unfortunately the whole game isn’t going to be available in Steam VR gamers can enjoy the Blood Ties chapter in Steam VR. The update costs $0 but you will need the Blood Ties chapter to play it. The Blood Ties chapter comes with the Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and thanks to sales you can pick it up for $29.99 from Steam. You can pick up an HTC Vive for $599 and the Oculus Rift+ Oculus touch for $399 from Amazon. The HTC Vive comes with Fallout 4 VR, Tilt Brush, Vive port subscription. The RIft comes with Lucky’s Tale, Quill beta, Dead and Buried, Toy Box, Robo Recall, and Medium. The HTC Vive’s minimum specs are Core i5-4590, GTX 970, and 4GB of ram. You can download the Steam VR performance test to see if your PC works with the HTC Vive. Oculus Rift’s minimum specs are GTX 1050 Ti, i3-6100, and 8GB Ram.
