Nintendo Switch did very well in 2017

When Nintendo announced the Nintendo NX at E3 many people said that it will fail and it will be like another Wii U but fortunately for Nintendo those people were wrong. The Nintendo Switch sold 10 million units in only 9 months and that exceeded Nintendo’s expectations by millions of units. For comparison, The Xbox One sold only 7 million units in 10.5 months, the Xbox 360 sold 5.9 million units in 10.5 months, and the PS 3 sold 5.63 million units in 10.5 months. Nintendo expected the Nintendo Switch to sell only 8 million units from April 2017 through March 2018. When Nintendo said that the Nintendo Switch was doing a lot better than expected so they can’t keep up with demand they weren’t lying. The Nintendo Switch got more achievements in 2017 too. The Nintendo Switch became the product of the year/console of the year and it became the fastest selling console in the United States. The Nintendo Switch also got some of the best video games of all times with Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild getting perfect or near-perfect scores from all reviewers.

With all of these popular IPs fans want to know which one sold the best. Super Mario Odyssey sold 9 million units worldwide, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 7.3 million units worldwide, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold 6.7 million units, Splatoon 2 sold 4.9 million units, ARMS sold 1.6 million units worldwide, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sold 1.06 million units. Zelda Breath of the Wild would have probably sold better if it wasn’t available on the Wii U. Right now on the Nintendo Switch eShop Super Mario Odyssey is higher then Zelda Breath of the Wild in the best selling games list. Super Mario Odyssey’s sales weren’t surprising at all considering that it got a perfect score from pretty much all reviewers. Super Mario Odyssey got a 10/10 from IGN, 9.5/10 from Polygon, and a 97% from Metacritic.
