World’s Most Premium VR | HTC At CES 2018, The New VIVE Pro VR Headset
This CES tech news sounds almost too good to be true for all the tech fans. HTC has been at the top of the VR news in CES this year with anticipated announcement of the VIVE PRO.
The new HTC Vive Pro looks great and is set to be called the world’s most premium VR headset, bringing an improved display resolution and more pixel density. It doesn’t offer the 4K experience anticipated by many, but its 2880 x 1600 dual OLED display still represents a 78% improvement on the original Vive while it jumps 74% to 615ppi to boot. HTC presented a redesigned head strap for Vive Pro, but probably the best bit is that HTC has confirmed Vive Wireless Adapter from this summer. We’ve often said that cutting the cord is essential to VR so HTC is taking care of that one as well.
Some other improvements in vive are also good to be mentioned like, the integration of a dual front facing camera, dual microphones and headphones with a built-in amplifier. The Vive Pro also has a redesigned head strap as mentioned, making it easier for users to resize to suit their unique size. HTC says it’ll continue the original HTC Vive headset through 2018.
About the new wirless system in the vive HTC said in a blog post:
“The Vive Wireless Adaptor features Intel’s WiGig technology and offers a premium VR wireless experience that operates in the interference-free 60Ghz band, which means lower latency and better performance. The Vive Wireless Adaptor will ship in Q3 to customers worldwide.”
Pricing and exact release dates for HTC’s new kit are still to be confirmed, but expect a magic price tag, the Pro won’t come cheap.
