GPU price drop

As NVIDIA & AMD Graphics Card Prices Drop about 18% in all levels of performance, gamers seemingly put off upgrades looking forward to the next generation of NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. The first wave of price drops happened back in March, which saw prices go down by roughly 25%.

What is coming to the market soon for AMD & NVIDIA

NVIDIA GTX 1180 and the family

NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 11 or 20 Series is coming later in 2018 as previously reported and confirmed on-camera by a Lenovo representative. That information that you may call it a leak, indicated that the GeForce GTX 1180 will be included in Lenovo Legion 730 gaming desktops as soon as this fall. Two graphics cards available at launch based on reports and rumors: the GeForce GTX 1180 and the GeForce GTX 1170. We can expect more variants including a GTX 1180 Ti, GTX 1160, GTX 1150 in coming month after the first release.

GTX 1180 SPECS

As indicated by rumors the Nvidia GTX 1180 is going to feature specs similar to Nvidia’s Titan XP, the most powerful and expensive gaming GPU available in the market. The Titan XP will cost you more than $1,200 right now which is way too expensive for a GPU for most gamers.  Most people’s PC cost around $1,200. Apparently, the Nvidia GTX 1180 is going to have 3584 Cuda Cores, 8-16GB of VRAM, 1600MHz core clock, 1800MHz boost clock, 13 TFLOPS, 16 Gbps Memory Speed, and a TDP of 170 to 200 watts. The GTX 1180 is going to be revolutionary for the PC gaming market as according to rumors it will cost around $700 and it is going to be released in July 2018.

What is coming from AMD? Vega? Polaris?

Reports and rumors indicate that, AMD is preparing their brand new 7nm based Vega 20 GPUs which will be featured inside the next-gen Radeon Instinct products. AMD talked about the new GPU at Computex 2018, giving us a sneak peek at the upcoming server parts but a detailed analysis has been done by Ascii.jp which reveals it to be an HPC powerhouse in the making. AMD 7nm Vega 20 GPUs May Break The 20 TFLOPs Barrier.

Based on the estimation done by Ascii.jp, they are rounding the die size of the Vega 20 chip around 360mm2 while the Vega 10 chip measured at 484mm2. So that’s about a 70% reduction in the total die size. But here’s the thing, according to GloFo, 7nm LPP offers a 2.8 times increase in logic density which means AMD is using their own cell library rather than Global Foundries which comes with a 2x increase over the 2.8x increase as GloFo states.
