Impressive Benchmarks, AMD VEGA Integrated Graphic On Intel’s i7-8705G CPU Ranks Close to Discrete Nvidia’s 1050
AMD Has shown great improvments in integrated graphics made by Vega Chips and now the new Benchmarks of Intel Core i7-8705G CPU integrated with AMD Vega graphics on a dell XPS 15 at CES 2018 are out and they reveal that the performance of the new on-board AMD Vega is very close to Discrete Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 graphic card.
Intel’s new Kaby Lake-G processors early benchmarks came out from the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1, that is powered by Intel’s Core i7-8705G. The benchmark comes from Hot Hardware website. The site was able to run a few quick runs of the Rise of the Tomb Raider frame rates and built-in benchmark and performance is very impressive for an integrated graphic. It was running at High settings at FHD (1920×1080), the benchmark scored about 35 frames per second that is very good for on-board graphics card.
Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 scores about 38 fps, it’s incredible for AMD because the AMD Vega M GPU in this machine is an on-chip graphics solution, not a separate card with cooling and separate power and PCIe port. Comparatively, Intel’s own HD Graphics 620 only hits about 6.25 frames per second that is way out of the range of competition with vega.
Benchmark Frames per second: Rise of the Tomb Raider (High, 1920×1080): GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q 67.5, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 45.8, Geforce GTX 1050 38.4, Core i7-8705G (AMD Vega M) 34.9, GeForce MX150 20.6, Intel HD Graphics 620 6.25.
The Intel Core i7-8xxxG is a new CPU series, fast quad-core processors for notebooks based on the Kaby Lake architecture and was announced in January 2018. similar to the Core i7-7920HQ it integrates four processor cores, 8709G that was introduced earlier by Intel would come soon with a Turbo up to 3.9 GHz, the base clock thus 3.1 GHz. (Turbo not yet officially published). The CPU is still produced in 14nm as the i7-7920HQ.
