In 2017 VR gaming took off. Even though the HTC Vive (the most popular PC VR headset) is expensive more and more gamers are getting into VR gaming thanks to Sony’s PS VR and the Oculus Rift. The HTC Vive costs $599.99, which is a very hefty price tag considering that you can build a VR ready gaming PC for $599.99. When Oculus Rift came out most gamers bought HTC Vive because the Oculus Rift didn’t have controllers but the HTC Vive did so most people bought that instead of the Oculus Rift. Oculus Rift got controllers and they are far better than HTC Vive’s controllers. Even though the HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift have better graphics and controllers the PS VR sold far better because it has better games and many of those games are exclusive to the PS VR. In 2017 we didn’t see a lot of VR games but it seems like it might get better in 2018. VR game development has risen by a little bit.

According to GDC’s pools 17% of the developers that participated said they are working on a game for the HTC Vive, 16% of the developers that participated said they are working on a game for the Oculus Rift, and 9% of the developers that participated said they are working on a game for the PS VR. 69% of the developers that participated said they are not working on any VR games. It seems like in 2018 we are going to see a little more VR games. 19% of the developers said that their next game will be released on the HTC Vive, 17% of the developers said that their next game will be released on the Oculus Rift, and 11% of the developers said that their next game will be released on the PS VR. 66% of the developers said that they don’t have plans for a VR games.
