As most PC gamers know by now, GPU and RAM prices have gone up a lot. Right now a GTX 1080 TI will cost you around $1000 and 16GB of DDR4 RAM will cost you at least $160. Before the prices went up, a GTX 1080Ti would’ve cost you about $600-700 and 16 GB of RAM would’ve cost you $100-150. $150 would’ve been a fast RAM, but right now $160 will get you the slowest RAM in the market. If you want to get into PC gaming, you might be wondering if you should buy a PC or build one so we have made a guide for you.

Right now, even-though GPU prices and RAM prices have gone up it is cheaper to build it your self. The MSI Desktop Computer Infinite X has an I7 8700, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, 2 TB HDD, 256 M.2 SSD, and a GTX 1070 TI and it will cost you a hefty price of $1,699. I tried to make a system with similair specs by using PC part picker. The costume PC has an I7 8700, MSI – Z370-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard, G.Skill – Trident Z RGB 16GB, Western Digital 256 GB M.2 SSD, Seagate 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD, MSI GTX 1070 TI Armor, Phanteks – Enthoo Pro M ATX Mid Tower case, Raidmax 700W 80+ power supply, and Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit. The costume build costs $1550.60 after rebate. That is far lower than the $1699.99 price point. You can make this system cheaper by buying a 500w power supply as the CPU can’t be overclocked. You can easily find cheaper RAM as well.

The GPU prices have been going up because of the recent high demands. When cryptocurrency mining exploded, GPU manufacturers haven’t been able to keep up with the demand, so it’s tough to buy a GPU at the original price.
