7nm Next-Gen AMD Ryzen 2 Coming 2019 | Should You Wait? (Specs, Price, Rumors)

AMD Zen 2 Latest Leaks and Rumors

AMD Ryzen

If you remember, when AMD announced Ryzen a few years ago it blew away our expectations outperforming the competition by a long shot and made AMD popular again. If you have been following the news, you probably know that a lot of rumors are going around about AMD’s next-gen 7nm CPUs and next-gen 7nm GPUs. Well, the latest rumors claim that AMD Zen 2 is going to be released really soon and we have even gotten a specs list.

AMD Zen 2 Specs List

Thanks to credible sources around the internet, we have gotten our hands on a supposed specs list for AMD Zen 2. Of course, the specs list below may be completely false but, AMD’s official benchmarks somewhat support this rumor.

AMD Zen 2 Official Benchmarks

Thanks to AMD themselves, we have gotten our hands on Cinebench R15 benchmarks for the 8 core and 16 threads variant of AMD Zen 2. Although AMD hasn’t given us the price for the Zen 2 CPU used in this benchmark, they have given us the power consumption which suggests it wouldn’t be a high-end CPU. The 8 core, 16 thread variant of Zen 2 was able to score 2,057 on Cinebench R15 while the Intel Core I9-9900k only scored 2,040. The benchmarks were supposedly done on identical systems and the Zen 2 system used 130w of power while the Core I9-9900k used 180w of power. The fact the clocks aren’t finalized yet means we’ll get much better scores when AMD Zen 2 is released. If the rumored specs list above is real, then a $229 AMD Ryzen CPU will easily be able to outperform a $500 Core I9-9900k.

AMD Zen 2 Coming Soon

Thanks to AMD themselves, we know that Zen 2 is going to be released sometime in 2019. Thanks to the latest rumors, we know that AMD Navi is going to be released around summer 2019 and Zen 2 will likely come out around the same time. The fact that Zen 2 was ready for Cinebench shows that it’s going to be released soon. Rumors have been claiming for a while now that Zen 2 is going to be released mid-2019 and that’s around summer time.

Should You Wait?

Now I’m going to answer the big question, should you wait? Well, if you really want a PC and only want to do light work or gaming, it may not be worth it to wait. CPUs don’t really affect gaming but, if you want to do video editing or CPU intensive work, you should definitely wait for Zen 2 as you can get much better performance for a lower price. The latest rumors claim that a $500 AMD Zen 2 CPU is going to be able to outperform a $1700 Intel CPU.
