Apple has put huge orders for LCD modules to General Interface Solution (GIS). Apple’s orders for the manufacturing LCD modules (LCMs) are for a 13-inch MacBook that is expected to be released sometime in the second half of 2018. GIS Chairman, Chou Hsien-ying, has mentioned that LCMs are a small portion of the company’s total revenues but now with Apple’s new orders, the company is looking to scale up LCMs from 300,000 units to 600,000 units per month.

There have been rumors that when AMD and Intel made a deal to make a chip together, one of the future costumers could be Apple asking for a custom chip for its next ultra-thin laptop, this new 13 inch Macbook could be the one that the rumors where all about. If that happens it will be using an integrated Amd Radeon vega chip along with Intel CPUs.

While apple fans are always exited to see new macbook laptops from apple, you may see a new 13-inch MacBook this time that might signal the end of the popular MacBook Air. The MacBook Air launched a decade ago and focused on portability and battery life. The new 13-inch MacBook could be expected to take the Air’s spot given that Apple already killed the 11-inch Air in 2016.

Apple has not comment on its upcoming MacBook plans. Apple would also look towards pricing it in line with the current 13-inch Air.
